1. Who We Are
AffirmNow (“AffirmNow”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the AffirmNow website at https://affirmnow.in and the AffirmNow mobile application (together, the “Service”). We are based in Pune, Maharashtra, India.

2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of data:
- Account information — email address, first name, last name, password (stored only in hashed form; we can never see your plain-text password), and, if you upload one, your profile photo.
- Content you create — the text of affirmations you write, voice recordings you make in the app, audio generated from your text via text-to-speech, and any background music files you upload.
- Community activity — affirmations you mark as favourites, likes, comments, follows, and reports you file against other users’ content.
- Usage & device data — daily check-ins and streaks, IP address, browser or device type, operating system, app version, and basic log data (timestamps, endpoints called, error information) used to keep the Service running.
- Verification codes — time-limited one-time passcodes we send to your email to verify your account, reset your password, or confirm account deletion. Codes are stored temporarily (up to 15 minutes) and consumed on use.
We do not collect your phone number, physical address, date of birth, or payment information.
3. How We Collect It
Most data comes from you directly — when you register, when you create affirmations, when you upload music, or when you interact with community features.
A small amount of data is collected automatically when you use the Service — IP address, browser or device information, and basic activity logs used for security and to keep the Service running reliably.
4. Why We Use Your Information
We use your data to:
- Create and manage your account and let you sign in.
- Store and play back the affirmations, recordings, and background music you use.
- Generate audio from your text using a text-to-speech service.
- Show your public affirmations to other users (only when you explicitly publish them).
- Send you transactional emails — verification codes, password resets, account-deletion confirmations, and important service notices.
- Measure usage to fix bugs and improve the Service.
- Keep the Service secure — detect abuse, prevent brute-force sign-in attempts, and enforce our Terms.
- Comply with legal obligations.
Legal basis (for users in the EU / UK): we process your data to perform our contract with you (running the Service), on the basis of your consent where required (for example, sending optional emails or, in future, using microphone / photo access), and where necessary for our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service.
5. Device Permissions (Mobile App)
The AffirmNow mobile app may ask for the following permissions. Each is optional and used only for the stated purpose:
- Microphone — to let you record your own voice affirmations. Recordings are only captured when you actively start a recording.
- Photos / Camera — to let you choose or take a profile picture.
- Notifications — to send you optional daily reminders to check in and listen to your affirmations.
You can revoke any of these permissions at any time from your device settings. Doing so may disable the corresponding feature but will not delete your account.
6. Voice Recordings
We understand voice recordings are personal. When you record affirmations in the app, the audio is uploaded to our storage and associated with your account. We use it only to play the recording back to you and, if you explicitly publish the affirmation, to play it back to other users who view it. We do not use your recordings to train speech models or sell them to third parties. Deleting a recording in the app removes the audio file from our storage. Deleting your account removes all of your recordings.
7. Third Parties We Share With
We rely on a small number of third-party services to run AffirmNow. We share only the minimum data each needs to do its job:
- Google Cloud Text-to-Speech — when you generate audio from your text, the text is sent to Google Cloud to produce the audio. Google’s handling of this data is governed by their Cloud Data Processing terms.
- Google Analytics 4 — we use Google Analytics on the website to understand aggregate usage patterns. It sets cookies and collects IP address, device, and browsing data. Google’s handling is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
- Hosting & email delivery — our servers and email delivery are provided by infrastructure partners; they store data on our behalf and are contractually restricted from using it for their own purposes.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with advertisers.
8. How We Store and Protect Your Data
- All traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
- Your password is never stored in plain text — only a bcrypt hash is retained, which is a one-way transformation.
- Your voice recordings and uploaded music are stored in a private area of our storage that requires authentication to access.
- Sign-in and OTP endpoints are rate-limited to blunt brute-force attacks.
- On the mobile app, your authentication token is stored in the operating system’s secure storage (Keychain on iOS, EncryptedSharedPreferences / Keystore on Android).
9. How Long We Keep Your Data
- Account data — kept while your account is active.
- Content you create — kept until you delete it or delete your account.
- Verification codes (OTPs) — valid for 15 minutes; consumed on use or expired thereafter.
- Basic server logs — retained for a short period (typically up to 30 days) for security and troubleshooting, then rotated out.
10. Deleting Your Account and Data
You can permanently delete your account from inside the Service at any time. This is irreversible.
- In the app (web or mobile): sign in, go to Profile, scroll to the Danger zone, tap Delete my account, and confirm using the 6-digit code we email you.
- By email: if you can’t sign in, email us at info@affirmnow.in from the address on your account and we will delete it for you.
What gets erased: your profile and profile photo, all affirmations you created and the audio associated with them (voice recordings and generated audio), all background music you uploaded, your favourites, streaks, likes, comments, follows, and any reports or feedback you submitted. Deletion removes this data from our active systems; residual copies may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period before being rotated out.
11. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate personal data.
- Request deletion of your account and personal data.
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent for optional processing (such as marketing emails).
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@affirmnow.in. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on the request.
12. Children’s Privacy
AffirmNow is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it. In jurisdictions where the minimum age for online consent is higher, that higher age applies.
13. International Data Transfers
We are based in India and our infrastructure and third-party providers may store or process your data outside your country of residence. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect your data during international transfer.
14. Cookies & Similar Technologies (Website)
The AffirmNow website uses cookies for the following purposes:
- Essential — to keep you signed in and remember your preferences.
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4 cookies to measure aggregate site usage.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the site from working.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Please review this page periodically.
